About John Skeez
John Skeez (1947 to 2021) was a contemporary, Southern Californian, award-winning fine artist with roots in Upstate New York. He enjoyed photography, drawing, sketching and painting most of his life. John Skeez was also an avid drummer, expressing his creativity through both visual art and music.
John’s artwork included abstract subjects, creative portraits, mixed-media constructs, and paintings of out-of-this-world florals, seascapes and sea life, as well as creatures of all kinds, and murals. John Skeez loved nature and derived his inspiration there, adding his very imaginative flair and techniques to produce one-of-a-kind artwork.
John’s burgeoning artistic talent showed up in his teen years. While his professional career was not in the art world, John thrived on photography and art classes soon after moving to California, whenever they would fit into his schedule. In the early 1970s, John began attending community college campuses for drawing, commercial design, photography, Conte’ Crayon, pastels, pencil, ink, three-dimensional collage, Marshall Oils, concentrating primarily in acrylic medium. John intensified his painting skills in the early 1980s, enjoying his painting classes at that time.
As a retired real estate appraiser (holding five college degrees!), John Skeez (the name he chose to sign his artwork) began to use the Arts and Crafts Room at The Lodge at the Four Seasons Community in Hemet, California to produce a lot of paintings. He surely received a lot of compliments on his work, and he also received many awards in the local art competitions.
